Pickup Fleeing Scene After Colliding with Teen on E‑Scooter in Shirley

On Saturday evening, just before 7 p.m., a 15‑year‑old girl was cruising north on an electric scooter along Diana Drive in Shirley. She made a right turn onto Robinwood Drive and, within moments, slammed into the back of a white pickup truck pulling a silver‑colored trailer.

The impact was enough to send the teen to the ground, but thankfully her injuries were not life‑threatening. She was whisked to NYU Langone Hospital‑Suffolk in East Patchogue for treatment and later released.

What’s puzzling – and alarming – is that the pickup driver didn’t stop. The vehicle sped away from the scene, leaving the teen and any witnesses bewildered. Suffolk County police are now canvassing the area for any information that could help identify the driver and the truck.
