Penn-Trafford Athletics Triumphs: Golf Star Shines, Teams Secure Playoff Berths Across Fall Sports!

The fall sports season at Penn-Trafford High School has been nothing short of thrilling, marked by individual brilliance, collective effort, and the sheer determination of its Warriors athletes. From the links to the gridiron, and the courts to the fields, these student-athletes have left it all out there, culminating in impressive performances and hard-earned playoff berths.

Leading the charge on the golf course, senior sensation Nick Turowski showcased his exceptional talent at the recent Westmoreland County Coaches’ Association (WCCA) tournament.

Firing a commendable round of 77, Turowski secured a tie for seventh place, a testament to his skill and consistency. As one of Penn-Trafford’s premier golfers, his performance highlights a strong season for the Warriors golf team, who also recently vied in the intensely competitive Section 1-3A qualifier.

While the boys’ soccer team unfortunately concluded their season just shy of the WPIAL Class 3A playoffs, their spirited efforts and future potential are undeniable.

Finishing with an overall record of 4-12-1 and a 3-7 mark in Section 4, the young squad battled hard in a tough division. Bright spots included the prolific scoring of junior Jake McCloskey, who netted an impressive 8 goals and added 3 assists. Sophomore Ben Litz contributed significantly with 4 goals and 5 assists, while freshman Logan Murphy quickly made his mark with 3 goals and 2 assists.

With such a strong core of underclassmen, the future looks incredibly bright for the Warriors on the pitch.

Similarly, the girls’ soccer team, despite missing the WPIAL Class 3A playoffs, demonstrated remarkable resilience and growth throughout their season. Ending with a 7-9-1 overall record and a 4-8 showing in Section 4, their youthful roster promises much for seasons to come.

Junior Alexis Pittman was an absolute force, leading the team with an astounding 14 goals and 4 assists. Sophomore Mia McCafferty chipped in with 6 goals and 2 assists, and freshman Carmen Fabregas showcased her potential with 3 goals and 2 assists. With a significant number of starters set to return, the girls’ soccer program is poised for a strong resurgence.

Shifting indoors, the girls’ volleyball team delivered a stellar performance, earning a coveted spot in the WPIAL Class 4A playoffs.

Under the astute guidance of head coach Amanda Moeller, the Warriors posted an excellent 9-6 overall record and a dominant 7-3 finish in Section 3. Their consistent play and strategic prowess have positioned them well for a deep run in the postseason, and fans are eagerly anticipating their playoff journey.

On the gridiron, the Penn-Trafford football team once again proved their mettle, securing their 11th consecutive trip to the WPIAL playoffs! Finishing the regular season with a 4-5 overall record and a respectable 2-2 in Section 3-5A, the Warriors showcased their trademark resilience and fighting spirit.

This remarkable streak is a testament to the program’s consistent excellence and dedication. As they prepare for the high-stakes WPIAL playoffs, the team is ready to unleash their competitive fire and contend for glory.

Rounding out the fall playoff qualifiers, the girls’ tennis team also made their presence felt in the WPIAL Class 3A playoffs.

Entering as the No. 9 seed, they faced a formidable challenge against Latrobe in the first round. In a closely contested battle, the Warriors, led by head coach Rachel DeAugustine, ultimately fell 3-2. Despite the loss, their playoff qualification and competitive spirit against a strong opponent underscore a successful season for the team.
