Over 200,000 Amazon Toddler Toys Pulled from Shelves After Choking Hazard Is Discovered

In a startling turn of events, Amazon shoppers who bought the bright‑blue "busy board" Montessori toys for their little ones have been told to pull them off the shelf – literally. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says the red knobs on the second page of the board can pop off, turning a cute learning tool into a serious choking hazard for children under three.

According to the commission, roughly 276,000 of these boards are in circulation, and they were sold on Amazon between March 2023 and July 2026 at prices ranging from about $18 to $30. The product, marketed by Esjay US, was manufactured in China by Shenzhen Yishijie Technology Co., Ltd., which does business under the Esjay name.

The busy boards themselves look pretty kid‑friendly: soft blue felt, little elastic cords, cartoon dinosaur graphics on the front, and a set of 26 alphabet squares paired with animal illustrations on the back. There are five pages total, and it’s the second page – the one with those red knobs – that’s the troublemaker.

Fortunately, no injuries have been reported so far, but officials stress that the risk is very real. The boards violate the federal small‑parts ban because they’re intended for toddlers under three, a group that can’t safely swallow detachable pieces.

If you happen to own one of these busy boards, the advice is simple: remove it from your child’s reach immediately and stop using it. Esjay US has said it will offer a repair, essentially swapping out the faulty page for a safe one, though many parents may prefer a full replacement or a refund.
