Investigators believe she used the physical therapy contact information belonging to an entirely different individual – also named Amanda Maynard, quite the coincidence, wouldn't you say? – to lend credibility to her fabricated professional identity. And if that weren't enough, she's accused of employing the Social Security Number of a distinct woman residing in North Carolina to bypass crucial background checks. The scope of her alleged activities appears extensive. Maynard-Murphy is accused of having worked in several healthcare settings, spanning multiple facilities across at least four Ohio counties. Among these were Parkvue in Perkins Township and NOMS Healthcare, also situated in Perkins Township, just outside Sandusky. One can only ponder the potential implications for the patients she may have interacted with during her time at these establishments, trusting her presumed expertise.

The wheels of justice, though sometimes slow, eventually turn. The alleged deception began to unravel, leading to initial charges filed against Maynard-Murphy on February 21, 2024. At that time, she was initially charged with two felony counts of identity theft and tampering with records. But the legal process didn't stop there. A more comprehensive indictment followed in January 2025, expanding the charges significantly. She now faces six felony counts: four counts of identity fraud, one count of possessing criminal tools, and one count of grand theft. Pretty serious stuff, if proven true.

For over a year and a half, that January 2025 indictment remained unserved. Then, on August 24, 2026, authorities finally caught up with her. Maynard-Murphy was arrested in Tennessee, bringing a new chapter to this unfolding legal drama. Following her arrest, she was promptly returned to Erie County, Ohio, to face the charges leveled against her.
