Odisha CM Mohan Majhi Slams Mamata Banerjee: "She Is Lying, No Harassment of Bengalis or Indians"

In a powerful and direct rebuttal, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi vehemently dismissed allegations made by his West Bengal counterpart, Mamata Banerjee, regarding the harassment of Bengalis and other Indian citizens within Odisha. CM Majhi did not mince words, emphatically stating, "She is lying.

No Indian, no Bengali is being harassed in Odisha."

The contentious claims from West Bengal's Chief Minister had centered on alleged difficulties faced by people from Bengal, particularly those in Puri and individuals associated with the administration of the revered Jagannath Temple. Banerjee had seemingly suggested a climate of intimidation or unfair treatment towards non-Odias in the state.

However, CM Majhi painted a starkly different picture.

He highlighted Odisha's long-standing reputation as a peaceful state, where people from all communities and regions coexist harmoniously. "Odisha is a peaceful state where people from all parts of the country live together in peace and harmony. This is the truth," he asserted, challenging the very premise of Banerjee's accusations.

To underscore his point, CM Majhi revealed that he had personally visited the areas specifically mentioned by Mamata Banerjee, including Puri, and had found absolutely no evidence to support her claims.

He reiterated that his on-ground assessment confirmed a reality of tranquility, not turmoil.

Furthermore, the Odisha Chief Minister appealed to the deep-rooted historical and cultural ties that bind Odisha and West Bengal, especially the Bengali community. He reminded everyone of the strong spiritual connection, with countless Bengalis considering Puri as a sacred pilgrimage site.

"Our relationship with West Bengal, particularly with the Bengali people, is very old. Many people from Bengal come to Puri for darshan," he explained, suggesting that such divisive claims undermine this shared heritage.

Majhi went on to question the underlying motives behind Banerjee's statements, implying a potential attempt to incite discord or engage in political maneuvering.

He stressed that creating division between states or communities is detrimental and counterproductive, especially given the shared cultural fabric.

Concluding his forceful rejection, CM Majhi reaffirmed his government's unwavering commitment to ensuring peace, harmony, and equitable treatment for every individual residing in or visiting Odisha, regardless of their origin.

His statement served as a clear message that his administration would not tolerate baseless allegations designed to disrupt the state's peaceful environment.
