Odisha Announces Mukhyamantri Research Fellowship 2026‑27 – Applications Now Open

The Government of Odisha has rolled out its flagship Mukhyamantri Research Fellowship for the academic year 2026‑27, inviting bright minds from across the state – and even from other parts of the country – to apply. This year’s call aims to boost high‑impact research in areas that matter most to the region, ranging from climate‑resilient agriculture to advanced materials and digital innovations.

Who can apply? The fellowship is open to Indian citizens who have cleared a master’s degree with at least 55 % marks (or the equivalent CGPA) in a discipline that aligns with the listed priority sectors. Fresh graduates, early‑career researchers and even those currently pursuing a Ph.D. are all eligible, provided they meet the academic criteria and can demonstrate a clear research proposal.

What’s on offer? Successful fellows will receive a monthly stipend of INR 35,000, plus a one‑time research grant of INR 1,00,000 to cover equipment, field work or data acquisition. In addition, there’s a modest travel allowance for conference participation and a mentorship package that pairs the fellow with senior scientists from Odisha’s leading universities and research institutes.

The application process is entirely online. Candidates need to register on the official portal (https://fellowship.odisha.gov.in), fill out the personal and academic details, upload their CV, academic transcripts, a two‑page research proposal and two letters of recommendation. The portal also allows applicants to track the status of their submission in real time.

All applications must be submitted by 30 September 2026. After the deadline, a technical committee will evaluate proposals on merit, feasibility and relevance to the state’s development goals. Shortlisted candidates will be called for a virtual interview before final selections are announced in early December.
