Oakland Township Crash Leaves Woman Critically Injured; Investigation Underway

A frightening scene unfolded late Monday night in Oakland Township, as a serious two-vehicle collision sent emergency crews scrambling and left a young woman fighting for her life. The 20-year-old Oakland Township resident, who was driving one of the cars involved, remains in critical condition following the harrowing incident.

The crash, which occurred around 10:45 p.m. near the intersection of Rochester Road and Mead Road, involved a 2017 Cadillac ATS and a 2013 Honda Civic. You can just imagine the chaos that ensued in the immediate aftermath, with first responders rushing to the aid of those involved.

According to preliminary reports from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, it appears the Honda Civic, driven by the critically injured woman, was traveling westbound on Mead Road. Tragically, authorities believe the Civic failed to stop at the crucial stop sign, leading to a collision with the southbound Cadillac ATS on Rochester Road. It's a stark reminder, really, of just how vital those traffic signals are.

The driver of the Cadillac, a 24-year-old man from Rochester Hills, fortunately sustained only minor injuries in the impact. However, the young woman from the Civic was transported to a local hospital with injuries described as critical, a truly heartbreaking turn of events.

As the investigation continues, deputies from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit are meticulously piecing together all the details. While alcohol and drug impairment are not suspected for the Cadillac driver, investigators do believe that alcohol and/or drugs may have been a factor for the driver of the Honda Civic.
