Notorious History-Sheeter Kamal Chauhan Gunned Down in Lucknow, Key Suspect Arrested After Police Encounter

A chilling dawn broke over Lucknow as notorious history-sheeter Kamal Chauhan, a figure with a lengthy criminal past, was brutally gunned down near his home in Gosainganj early Monday morning. The shocking incident sent ripples through the local community, prompting a swift and decisive response from law enforcement, which culminated in the arrest of a prime suspect after an intense police encounter.

The events unfolded around 5:30 AM in Malak Mau village.

Chauhan, 42, was reportedly stepping out of his residence, heading towards a local tea stall, when his path was abruptly blocked by two bike-borne assailants. Without warning, the attackers unleashed a volley of gunfire, striking Chauhan in the head and chest. Despite immediate efforts to rush him to a nearby hospital, he was tragically declared dead upon arrival, leaving behind a trail of unanswered questions and a community grappling with the sudden violence.

As news of the high-profile murder spread, police immediately launched a comprehensive investigation.

Initial inquiries quickly pointed towards Avnish Yadav, a resident of the same locality, as the prime suspect. Detectives discovered a simmering animosity and a long-standing feud between Yadav and Chauhan, suggesting a motive rooted in old rivalries that had finally boiled over into deadly violence.

The hunt for Yadav intensified, leading police to intercept him near a canal in the Bijnor area.

Confronted by law enforcement, Yadav reportedly attempted a desperate escape, allegedly opening fire at the officers. The police team, acting decisively, retaliated, injuring Yadav in the leg. He was subsequently apprehended and transported to the civil hospital for immediate medical attention, bringing an end to the immediate manhunt.

During the arrest, authorities recovered a country-made pistol, several live cartridges, and the motorcycle believed to have been used during the crime.

Police sources confirmed that Avnish Yadav, during interrogation, confessed to the murder, reiterating that the act was a result of deep-seated old enmity with the deceased.

Kamal Chauhan himself was no stranger to the darker side of the law. His criminal dossier was extensive, boasting over 15 registered cases that included serious charges such as murder, attempted murder, extortion, and land grabbing.
