Nitish Kumar’s Visit to Patna ISKCON Temple

Former Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar paid a heartfelt visit to the ISKROOT (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) temple in Patna on Saturday evening. The purpose, as he told onlookers, was simple yet profound – to seek divine blessings for the peace, progress and prosperity of the state.

Arriving in a modest convoy, Kumar was welcomed by a gathering of priests, devotees and a few senior party figures. He first offered fresh flowers at the altar, lit oil lamps and joined the aarti that resonated through the sanctum. In a gesture that drew quiet applause, the priest presented the former chief minister with the sacred Shatari – a gleaming silver crown that, according to ISKCON tradition, represents the lotus feet of the Almighty. Kumar, with a solemn smile, placed the crown gently on the head of senior ISKCON leader Sanjay Jha, an act meant to symbolise spiritual grace and unity.

"Today is a holy occasion," Bihar Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari said afterward. "Nitish Kumar ji has come here to seek divine blessings for the progress and peace of Bihar. Placing the Shatari on Sanjay Jha ji’s head reflects our deep‑rooted traditions of respect and unity." Tiwari added that the state government remains committed to preserving cultural values while working tirelessly for the welfare of every citizen.

The ceremony, though brief, was steeped in symbolism – a reminder that politics and spirituality often intersect in the public life of Bihar. Observers noted the calm demeanor of the former chief minister, who seemed intent on reinforcing communal harmony at a time when the state faces numerous developmental challenges.
