The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) finds itself, as it often does, turning to the community for vital assistance in cracking several ongoing cases. First up, Eighth District detectives are really trying to piece together a tangled web of theft, access device fraud, and identity theft that unfolded on August 1, 2026. They're specifically looking for two individuals in connection with this: Chyine Marie Alexis, a Black female born on November 5, 1981, who faces potential charges for theft, access device fraud, and identity theft, and Myrie Angel Burks, a Black female born on August 2, 2006, wanted in connection with the theft charges. Then, there's a baffling auto theft case from earlier this year. On May 26, 2026, around 11:25 a.m., a vehicle was stolen from the 900 block of Washington Avenue. Sixth District detectives have been diligently investigating and have even managed to obtain some surveillance images of an unidentified individual they believe is involved.
