Well, good evening everyone, and welcome back to our evening weather update here at WMUR. What a beautiful, crisp fall day we’ve had across much of New Hampshire, though I’m sure many of you, like me, really felt that distinct chill in the air as the sun started to dip below the horizon. It was one of those days that just feels like late November, you know?
As we head deeper into the evening hours and through the overnight, that clear, crisp airmass will really take hold, sending those temperatures plummeting quite nicely across the region. We’re talking about absolutely clear skies, no real cloud cover to speak of, which means all that warmth from the day is just radiating right back out into space. You’ll definitely want to bundle up if you’re heading out for any reason, or perhaps just curl up with a good book and a warm drink. Overnight lows are looking to settle into the teens for our northern counties – yes, the teens! – while central and southern New Hampshire will see temperatures dip into the low to mid-20s. Expect widespread frost, of course, and those calm winds mean it won’t feel quite as biting, but it’s still going to be a cold one.
Now, let’s talk about tomorrow, Friday, and what a delightful day we have on tap to kick off the weekend! The sunshine will be absolutely brilliant from start to finish, just pouring into the Granite State. Despite all that glorious sun, it's still going to be a cool day, perhaps even a bit brisk, but certainly manageable with a nice warm coat. High temperatures are forecast to reach the upper 30s in the north, gradually warming up to the low 40s as you head towards our southern communities. So, while it won't be breaking any warmth records, it’ll be a perfect day for outdoor activities, maybe a hike or just enjoying the crisp autumn air before the true winter chill settles in.
Looking ahead into the weekend, we’re anticipating more of this pleasant, settled weather for Saturday. Think bright sunshine, continued cool temperatures – very similar to Friday, actually. By Sunday, we might see a slight increase in cloud cover, just a hint, as a weak system passes well to our south, but nothing that should spoil any plans. Temperatures will hold pretty steady, keeping us in that comfortable late-fall zone.
And then, as we eye the start of next week, there’s a system on the horizon that bears watching. By Monday night and into Tuesday, we could see a chance for some precipitation, possibly a rain/mix scenario, especially across the southern half of the state. It’s still a little far out to nail down the specifics, but it’s certainly something we’ll be tracking closely for you. For now, enjoy this beautiful stretch of crisp, clear, and very much November weather. Stay warm out there, New Hampshire, and we’ll see you back here for the next update!
