NEW Dueling Pianos and Fireworks Light Up Howard’s Labor Day Celebration

Live music, food trucks, roller‑skating and a fireworks finale at Howard Commons

The Village of Howard’s Labor Day weekend returns with NEW Dueling Pianos, a mural unveiling, food‑truck rally, roller‑skating and a free community fireworks show.

Mark your calendars – the Village of Howard is pulling out all the stops for its Labor Day weekend. On Sunday, September 6, the Howard Commons Activity Complex at 550 Commons Place will transform into a buzzing summer soirée.

Starting around 5 p.m., food trucks will roll in, offering everything from tacos to sweet treats. By 5:30 p.m., the newly‑arrived NEW Dueling Pianos will kick off the evening, letting locals sing, laugh and maybe even challenge each other at the keys.

Just before the music swells, more than 250 local artists will step forward to reveal the Patriot’s Flag Mural – a vibrant tribute that has been a community effort from day one.

Families are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and a sense of festivity. From 3 p.m. onward, the Biergarten will serve chilled drinks, and the skate rink will open for some retro roller‑skating fun.

When the clock strikes about 8:30 p.m., the night sky will explode with the annual Community Fireworks Show, lighting up faces big and small alike. Admission is free, but a word of advice: no outside food or drinks – buying from the trucks helps keep the Commons thriving and funds future events.

“Our Labor Day celebration is always one of the biggest nights of the summer at Howard Commons, and we’re thrilled to welcome NEW Dueling Pianos this year,” said Lisa Swan, Activity Director. “With live entertainment, food trucks, roller‑skating and fireworks, it’s going to be a fun night for the entire community.”
