NEET Paper Leak Sparks Chaos in Parliament: Rajya Sabha Adjourned Amid Student Protests

When the Monsoon Session of Parliament kicked off, the atmosphere was anything but calm. Mallikarjun Kharge, the Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, rose to the microphone and talked about a leak that could shake the futures of lakhs of aspirants.

‘This is about the futures of thousands of children,’ he said, pointing to the swelling crowd of students at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. The protesters – many from the so‑called Cockroach Janata Party – have been gathering day after day, and according to Kharge, a lathi‑charge was even attempted against them.

His remarks sparked a flurry of reactions. Speaker C.P. Radhakrishnan, after listening, announced that the Rajya Sabha would be adjourned until 12 noon the next day. The decision came amid growing demands from opposition parties for a formal discussion on the alleged NEET irregularities.

Across the aisle, the Lok Sabha met the same fate. Within minutes of convening, members broke into chants and slogans, pressing the government to address not only the NEET controversy but also lingering questions over a purported Ram Mandir donation scandal. The House was consequently suspended until noon as well.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police took to X (formerly Twitter) to push back against circulating rumors that they had used force on the Jantar Mantar demonstrators. "No violence or arbitrary detentions took place," the police statement read, urging the public not to be swayed by unverified claims. They also highlighted the heightened security arrangements put in place for the parliamentary session.

As the day drew to a close, the two houses remained silent, their chambers empty while students continued their sit‑in, and the nation waited for a clearer answer on the NEET paper leak that has ignited such a fierce debate.
