Naman Dhir's blistering 173 steers Amritsar Soormas to massive win

When the Amritsar Soormas walked out to bat, nobody expected a fireworks display – until Naman Dhir took charge and turned the innings into a one‑man showcase. In just 64 deliveries he rattled off 173 runs, peppered with 16 fours and 12 towering sixes, pushing the side to a staggering 279/7, the highest total of the tournament so far.

The innings was anything but a straight‑line sprint. Dhir cracked his half‑century in a breezy 19 balls, then kept the momentum rolling, reaching a 100 in just 36 balls after dispatching Lovedeep Chatha for 30. While he was on fire, teammate Jashanpreet Singh chimed in with a quick‑fire 41 off 25, and the two forged a 120‑run partnership in just 51 balls. Later, Rahul and Dhir added another 47 in a rapid 19‑ball burst, and the lower order – Abhishek Sharma’s 13 off 4 and Abhay Choudhary’s 20 off 10 – kept the scoreboard ticking.

But Dhir’s heroics didn’t stop at the crease. He rolled his arm over and snagged two wickets for just eight runs, capping a brilliant all‑round performance. Alongside him, Shubham Rana (3/30) and Jaipartap Singh (2/46) delivered disciplined spells that kept the Mohali Kings in check.

The chase never looked promising for the Kings. A early wicket from Abhishek Sharma (1/38) saw Sagar Virk dismissed on the second ball of the innings. Although Anmolpreet Singh (52 off 25) and Jaskaranvir (76 off 41) tried to revive hopes with an 80‑run stand, they were soon dismantled by Rana and Singh, who each picked up crucial wickets in quick succession. Dhir himself added two more scalps in the final overs, sealing a comprehensive 213/8 for Mohali.

With the victory, the Soormas not only chalked up a comfortable six‑point tally from six matches, they also celebrated their third 250‑plus total of the season. Dhir, speaking after the win, said, “It feels great. We’re back in the tournament and I think we’re hitting our stride at the right moment. After that first six, I just knew a big total was coming if we played our full 20 overs.”
