Anil Pandit of Lawrence Bishnoi gang alleged mastermind behind Juhu shooting
The Crime Branch says the Juhu firing that injured Tiger Shroff's driver was ordered by Bishnoi gang member Anil Pandit; three suspects from Kota are now in police custody.
On a balmy Sunday evening in Mumbai’s posh Juhu neighbourhood, a sudden burst of gunfire shattered the calm as a few masked men opened fire on a vehicle that happened to belong to Bollywood star Tiger Shroff. The actor walked away unharmed, but his driver and a nearby bystander weren’t so lucky.
Later that week, the Crime Branch of the Mumbai Police appeared before a magistrate and dropped a bombshell: the attack, they said, was not a random act of violence but a job commissioned by Anil Pandit, a known lieutenant of the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Three men—Rehan, alias Sukka, from Sonipat, Haryana; Ritik Kurmi, alias Roshan, originally from Begusarai, Bihar; and Phool Singh from Haryana—were tracked down thanks to CCTV footage and a recovered motorcycle abandoned in Andheri. The trio was picked up on a train in Kota, Rajasthan, on Monday and handed over to Mumbai investigators on Wednesday.
In court, the police asked for a 14‑day police custody period, arguing that they still needed to retrieve the weapons used in the shooting and gather electronic evidence. According to them, the accused had already smashed two mobile phones, so call‑detail records and other digital traces now had to be collected.
Defence counsel Ajinkya Mirgal and Satyabrat Joshi objected, saying the suspects had already been questioned during their transit custody and that further detention was unnecessary. The magistrate, however, sided with the prosecution and ordered the trio to remain in police custody until October 31.
So far, ten people have been arrested in connection with the case, and the investigation is being pursued under sections of the Indian Penal Code dealing with attempt to murder, as well as the Arms Act.
While the actor’s team thanked the authorities and urged patience, the police continue to chase leads, hoping to piece together the full conspiracy that linked a Bollywood star’s car to a gang‑run hit‑job.
