According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), these two formidable low-pressure systems are currently forming over the Bay of Bengal.

One is positioned over the coastal areas of West Bengal and its adjoining regions, while the second, an even more intense system, is gathering strength over the North Bay of Bengal. Their combined influence is expected to create highly adverse weather conditions across South Bengal for the next 24 to 48 hours.

The IMD has issued an "Orange Alert" for several districts in South Bengal, signaling the likelihood of heavy to very heavy rainfall.

Residents can expect torrential downpours, accompanied by severe lightning and strong winds, particularly in coastal and contiguous areas. The potential for localized flooding and disruption to daily life is considerable, making preparedness crucial for communities.

In light of the anticipated turbulent sea conditions due to the strong winds and rough seas, a strict ban has been imposed on fishing activities.
