India is bracing for a fresh onslaught of monsoon fury as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issues critical alerts for extremely heavy rainfall across several states. The IMD has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall, particularly impacting coastal and hilly regions. On the western front, Maharashtra is witnessing a relentless monsoon, prompting Yellow and Orange alerts for its Konkan coast and parts of Vidarbha.

Mumbai and its surrounding areas, along with districts such as Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, and Nagpur, are forecast to receive intense rainfall. The financial capital is historically prone to monsoon-related challenges, including severe waterlogging and traffic disruptions. Authorities are taking preemptive measures to manage urban flooding and ensure public safety.

The northeastern states, already accustomed to heavy monsoon rains, are once again facing the brunt of the weather system.

Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh are under close watch, with forecasts of extremely heavy rainfall. This region, often battling severe floods during the monsoon season, is being advised to prepare for rising river levels and potential displacement. Connectivity could be severely impacted as roads become impassable due to landslides and waterlogging, necessitating robust emergency response plans.
