Mohali Shaken: Drug Probe Cop Abducted, Thrashed in Brazen Retaliatory Attack

Such was the case late on Tuesday night in Mohali, where Head Constable Amandeep Singh, an officer actively battling the drug menace, found himself in a terrifying ordeal. He was abducted and subjected to a violent thrashing inside a car, a chilling incident that feels like something out of a suspense thriller.

Amandeep, who serves at the Phase 1 police station and is specifically assigned to tackle drug-related crimes, was on his way home after what was likely a long day. As he approached the Phase 8 light point, his vehicle was suddenly intercepted by a group of assailants. What followed was a swift and aggressive move: he was forcibly pulled from his own car and shoved into theirs. You can only imagine the sheer terror in that moment.

Once inside their car, the attackers wasted no time in unleashing a barrage of blows, brutally thrashing him. This wasn't just a random act of violence; it quickly became clear that this was a targeted, premeditated assault. After what must have felt like an eternity, they eventually dropped him off before making their escape, leaving the officer shaken and injured.

The motive behind this audacious act, it seems, was revenge. Police investigations have since revealed that the plot was hatched in retaliation for an earlier arrest made by Amandeep. Specifically, one of the accused, Gurpreet Singh alias Gora, had been taken into custody by the head constable in a separate drug-related case. Gora and his accomplices allegedly believed Amandeep had falsely implicated him, fueling their desire for payback.

Thankfully, the police acted swiftly. Five individuals have been arrested in connection with this heinous crime. They are identified as Jasveer Singh alias Jassi, Gurpreet Singh alias Gora (the alleged mastermind seeking revenge), Sandeep Singh alias Billa, Gurwinder Singh, and Parminder Singh. A first information report (FIR) has been registered against them under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 365 (kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine person), 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).

This incident truly underscores the dangerous and often thankless job our police officers perform, especially those on the front lines of the war against drugs. It’s a stark reminder that their commitment to law and order can, at times, put them directly in harm's way, even from those they've previously apprehended.
