Massive Drug Bust: Dominican Authorities Intercept Cocaine-Laden Vessel in High-Stakes Maritime Operation

SANTO DOMINGO – In a resounding blow against international drug trafficking, Dominican Republic authorities have announced the successful interception of a go-fast boat carrying an estimated 500 kilograms (approximately 1,100 pounds) of cocaine. The National Directorate for Drug Control (DNCD), working in close coordination with the Dominican Navy and receiving intelligence support from international agencies, initiated the operation following tips about a suspicious vessel attempting to smuggle illicit narcotics through Caribbean waters.

A rapid response team was dispatched, leading to a tense pursuit on the open sea.

Sources close to the investigation revealed that the suspected drug traffickers, piloting a powerful speed boat, attempted evasive maneuvers, but were ultimately outmatched by the tactical prowess and advanced capabilities of the Dominican forces.

After a brief but intense chase, the vessel was cornered and boarded. Onboard, agents discovered numerous packages of what tested positive for cocaine, meticulously wrapped and hidden within specialized compartments.

Authorities estimate the street value of the seized cocaine to be in the tens of millions of dollars, underscoring the scale of the illicit trade the Dominican Republic is actively fighting to dismantle.

Three individuals, whose nationalities have not yet been disclosed, were taken into custody during the operation.
