Manipur Crackdown: Major Blow to Militancy with Key Arrests and Extensive Arms Seizure

In a significant development bolstering security efforts in the troubled region of Manipur, security forces have successfully apprehended three suspected militants and a crucial arms dealer. This coordinated operation, conducted on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, in the Churachandpur district, underscores the intensified efforts to curb illegal activities and bring stability to the state.

The joint forces, comprising personnel from the Assam Rifles and the Manipur Police, launched a meticulous operation that culminated in these pivotal arrests.

Among those apprehended were two individuals identified as active members of the Kuki National Army (KNA), a prominent militant outfit operating in the region. Additionally, one militant affiliated with the People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK-Pro) was also taken into custody, highlighting the multi-faceted nature of the security threat.

Adding to the success of the operation, authorities also arrested a key arms dealer, identified as Luntianlal Haokip.

Further recoveries included four hand grenades, a substantial quantity of 35 live rounds of assorted ammunition, and a significant sum of cash. The forces also confiscated a vehicle used by the accused, believed to be instrumental in their operations.

Following their apprehension, the arrested militants and the arms dealer, along with all the seized items, were promptly handed over to the Churachandpur Police Station for further legal proceedings.
