Manchester's Heroes Unite: First Responders Battle Hunger in Annual Food Frenzy

Manchester, NH – Get ready for a showdown with a heart of gold! Manchester’s bravest and most dedicated first responders are once again stepping up, not to tackle emergencies, but to take on hunger in a friendly yet fierce competition: the "First Responder Food Frenzy." Starting September 13, 2025, the Manchester Fire Department, Manchester Police Department, and American Medical Response (AMR) will go head-to-head, vying for bragging rights while collecting crucial donations for the New Hampshire Food Bank.

This highly anticipated annual event transforms the spirit of service into a powerful community drive.

Each agency will host its own donation barrel, inviting residents to contribute non-perishable food items and monetary donations. While the competition aims to see which department can rally the most support, the ultimate winner will be the countless individuals and families across New Hampshire who rely on the Food Bank's vital services.

The New Hampshire Food Bank, a program of New Hampshire Catholic Charities, plays an indispensable role in combating food insecurity.

Serving as the only food bank in the state, it distributes nutritious food to over 400 partner agencies, including food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters, across all ten counties. The need is constant, and the "First Responder Food Frenzy" arrives at a critical time to bolster these efforts.

Eileen Liponis, Executive Director of the New Hampshire Food Bank, expressed profound gratitude for the first responders' initiative.

"We are incredibly thankful for the continued partnership with Manchester’s first responders," Liponis stated. "Their dedication to our community extends far beyond their daily duties. This event not only raises essential food and funds but also brings much-needed awareness to the ongoing issue of hunger in our state.
