Man Stabbed in Shirley After a Street Fight, Police Report

On Sunday afternoon, just before 3 p.m., a heated argument on West Parkview Drive in Shirley turned violent. Anthony Thompson, 25, pulled a knife and stabbed a 51‑year‑old man during the scuffle.

The victim was rushed in a private vehicle to NYU Langone Hospital‑Suffolk in East Patchogue, where doctors say he sustained serious injuries. He remains hospitalized, and authorities have not released further medical details.

Suffolk County police arrested Thompson later that day. He’s been charged with first‑degree assault and is being held at the 7th Precinct in Shirley while awaiting arraignment at the First District Court in Central Islip.

During his initial court appearance, Thompson entered a not‑guilty plea. The judge also issued an order of protection for the victim. Court records show Thompson does not currently have legal representation on file and is scheduled to return to court on September 14.

This incident marks the first of two stabbings in the Mastic‑Shirley area over the Labor Day weekend – the second was a tragic father‑son killing in Mastic that resulted in a fatality.
