Major Drug Ring Dismantled in Beachwood: Significant Fentanyl and Cocaine Haul

It's always a good day when law enforcement manages to pull significant amounts of dangerous drugs off our streets, and that's precisely what happened recently in Beachwood. We're talking about a substantial drug bust, a true multi-agency effort that culminated in a serious dent being made in local drug distribution networks. Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, alongside Beachwood Police Chief Glenn DeMarco, officially announced this impressive operation, which unfolded on December 14th, targeting those peddling illicit substances right in our community.

At the heart of this particular operation, authorities identified 37-year-old Michael King of Beachwood as a key figure. His list of charges paints a stark picture: everything from possession of Fentanyl, Cocaine, Heroin, and MDMA with intent to distribute – that's a lot of different substances, mind you – to maintaining a CDS (Controlled Dangerous Substance) production facility, and of course, possession of drug paraphernalia. Frankly, it sounds like he was running quite the sophisticated setup. Following his arrest, King was promptly lodged in the Ocean County Jail, where he'll undoubtedly be staying for a while as legal proceedings unfold.

Alongside Michael, three other individuals were caught up in the dragnet: James King, 64, also of Beachwood; David Johnson, 54, from Beachwood; and Christopher Johnson, 34, hailing from nearby Pine Beach. Their charges were similar in nature, though perhaps not as extensive as Michael's, primarily focusing on possession of Fentanyl, Cocaine, Heroin, MDMA, and drug paraphernalia. Interestingly, these three were all released on a summons. That simply means they’ve been ordered to appear in court at a later date, rather than being held in custody – a common procedure depending on the severity of the charges and individual circumstances.

But beyond the arrests, the sheer volume of illicit substances recovered is truly staggering. Imagine over two thousand individual doses of Fentanyl – a drug known for its extreme potency and danger – taken out of circulation. Then add to that a hefty 200 grams of cocaine, another thousand dosage units of heroin, and various quantities of MDMA. It’s a haul that represents countless potential tragedies averted. And, as often happens in these situations, approximately $2,300 in cash, believed to be proceeds from drug sales, was also seized. It really drives home the financial incentive behind such dangerous activities.
