Major Break in East Toronto Homicide: Suspect Surrenders to Authorities

A significant development has emerged in the ongoing investigation into a fatal shooting in East Toronto, as the individual wanted in connection with the murder has turned himself in to police. The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Jordon Carter, surrendered to law enforcement on Monday afternoon, according to the Toronto Police Service.

The incident that led to this manhunt occurred on Tuesday, May 28, in the early hours of the morning.

Police were called to the scene near Queen Street East and Carlaw Avenue in the Leslieville area following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite immediate efforts by emergency services, the victim, later identified as 33-year-old Kevin Ndifor of Toronto, tragically succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators had quickly identified Carter as a primary suspect and had issued a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest.

He was believed to be armed and dangerous, prompting public appeals for assistance in locating him and warnings for citizens not to approach him. The intensive search spanned several days, with police actively pursuing leads and keeping the public informed.

Carter now faces a charge of second-degree murder.

His surrender marks a crucial step in bringing closure to the victim's family and the community affected by this violent crime. He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, June 4, to formally face the charges.
