Mahananda Express Derailment Near Ara Station – No Injuries Reported

It was still dark, about 4:15 am on Sunday, when the Mahananda Express jolted unexpectedly near Ara station in Bihar. Two of its coaches – one of them a general‑class carriage – came off the rails.

Fortunately, the news that followed was a relief: none of the passengers sustained injuries. The railway officials on site, led by station manager N.K. Rai, rushed to clear the wreckage. Within roughly four hours the derailed coaches were coaxed back onto the track and normal train traffic resumed.

What caused the mishap? Early reports point to a possible signal overshoot by the locomotive driver, but investigators are also checking whether a signalling fault played a part. The exact reason remains under scrutiny.

Railway crews worked diligently, coordinating with engineers and using a small crane to lift the wayward coaches. By early afternoon the line was back to its usual rhythm, and commuters could continue their journeys without further delay.

While the incident was unsettling, the swift response and the fact that no one was hurt underscore the effectiveness of the on‑ground safety teams. The Railway Ministry has promised a thorough probe to prevent any similar occurrences in the future.
