Ludhiana's Industrial Heart Bleeds: Workers' Fury Erupts Over Government's Job Betrayal

Protesters, representing the backbone of the city's economy, submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner, a stark reminder of the government's alleged inaction. A major point of contention highlighted by the union is the alarming exodus of prominent industrial giants.

The shuttering of three manufacturing plants by Hero Cycles, a name synonymous with Ludhiana's industrial prowess, and the relocation of Avon Cycles' crucial operations to Uttar Pradesh, have collectively stripped thousands of their daily bread. "Where is the government's commitment to its people?" demanded a union leader, expressing the collective frustration.

"When these major players pack up and leave, taking countless jobs with them, what is being done to stem the tide or support those left jobless?"

The union also fiercely criticized the proposed amendments to labor laws, fearing they would further erode workers' rights and exacerbate their already precarious situation.

They vehemently oppose any move that would dismantle existing protections, arguing that such changes would only serve to benefit industrialists at the expense of the working class.

Beyond the immediate crisis, the protesters also pressed for the diligent implementation of the Supreme Court's 2017 decision regarding minimum wages.
