LJP (Ram Vilas) Re‑asserts Its Goal: Chirag Paswan as Bihar’s Next Chief Minister

Patna – In a decidedly upbeat gathering on Friday, the Lok Janshakti Party‑Ram Vilas (LJP‑RV) put its cards on the table, stating once again that it intends to see its own leader, Chirag Paswan, installed as the Chief Minister of Bihar.

Speaking from the stage alongside Paswan, national general secretary and MLA Raju Tiwari, together with state president Surendra Vivek, announced the party’s ambition on an open platform. Their words were clear, though not without the usual political flourish: LJP‑RV will work tirelessly to form a government after the next assembly polls and fulfil its pledge to elevate Paswan to the chief ministerial seat.

"We have full confidence that we will progress day by day under the leadership of our leader, Chirag Paswan," Tiwari said, his tone mixing conviction with a touch of optimism. He added that the party’s organisational strength would only grow under Paswan’s guidance, hinting at a campaign that will be both aggressive and inclusive.

The meeting, attended by several senior cadres, also featured a brief appearance by Chirag Paswan himself. While he didn’t make any lofty promises, his presence alone seemed to reinforce the resolve of the party’s rank‑and‑file.

Why does this matter? Bihar’s political chessboard is already crowded, and LJP‑RV occupies a crucial spot within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). By openly claiming the chief ministerial post, the party is nudging its allies to reckon with its ambitions, potentially reshaping the power dynamics ahead of the elections.

Performance‑wise, LJP‑RV has a fairly impressive résumé. In the 2024 Lok Sabha polls the party contested five seats – Hajipur, Vaishali, Samastipur, Khagaria and Jamui – and won all five, a clean 100 percent strike rate. The following year, during the 2025 Bihar Assembly election, it fielded 29 candidates and secured 19 victories, further bolstering its claim to a larger role in state politics.

Given its current participation in both the central and Bihar NDA governments, the party’s assertive stance could spark fresh conversations about seat‑sharing and leadership within the alliance. Whether this resolve translates into an actual chief ministerial berth remains to be seen, but the message is unmistakable: LJP‑RV is not just a junior ally – it wants to lead.
