Lindsay Clancy's Lawyers Accuse Doctors of Medical Neglect in Ongoing Civil Suit

While the criminal system wrestles with a mistrial, the fight has moved into civil court. Lindsay Clancy’s family, represented by attorney Andrew Meyer, has filed a lawsuit that points a finger at the very clinicians who treated her.

According to the complaint, the medical teams involved showed what the plaintiffs call a “catastrophic failure” in recognizing and responding to Clancy’s deteriorating mental‑health condition. The filing alleges that doctors, nurses and hospital administrators missed obvious warning signs, delayed critical interventions and, ultimately, allowed a tragedy that cost her children’s lives.

“She screamed out for help,” Meyer told reporters. “She went to every available resource you could possibly imagine, and more than many people would ever have imagined, to try and get help, yet she continued to spiral downward.” The language is vivid, almost theatrical, but it reflects a genuine belief that the system let her down.

The defendants include Dr. Jennifer Tufts—who testified during Clancy’s criminal trial—and the renowned McLean Hospital. WMUR’s sister station, WCVB, reached out for comment, but the defense attorneys have not responded as of this writing.

Because the criminal case is still unresolved, the timeline for the civil action remains uncertain. Lawyers on both sides are waiting to see whether a second criminal trial will be scheduled before the civil proceedings gain momentum.

Family members say the suit is less about money and more about accountability. “We just want the truth,” one relative said, “and we want to make sure no other family has to endure what we have.”
