Latin Heritage Parade Returns to Downtown Summerlin

Mark your calendars – on Saturday, September 16 at 6 p.m., the streets of Downtown Summerlin will come alive with the sounds of guitars, trumpets and rhythmic footsteps as the Latin Heritage Parade makes its much‑anticipated return.

Sponsored this year by Minero General Contractor, the parade is a completely free event that stretches along Park Centre Drive, the bustling heart of Summerlin’s walkable urban core. It’s not just a procession; it’s a colorful showcase of the diverse Latin roots that flavor Southern Nevada, from the passionate salsa of Mexico to the lively cumbia of Colombia, the vibrant folk beats of Peru, and the spirited merengue of Nicaragua.

“We’re thrilled to welcome back the second‑annual Latin Heritage Parade,” said Halee Harczynski, senior marketing director of Downtown Summerlin. “Collaborating with local cultural groups lets us honor the many Latin traditions that call this region home, and we’re proud to share that energy with the entire community.”

In its second year, the parade highlights a fusion of music and dance performed by local artists who represent a tapestry of Latin American countries. Spectators can expect flamboyant costumes, marching bands, folkloric dancers, and surprise performances that keep the crowd cheering from start to finish.

Downtown Summerlin isn’t new to celebration. The district has long hosted a calendar of parades – a Lunar New Year march, Lei Day festivities, a mischievous Halloween‑themed procession, and a beloved Holiday Parade that lights up the winter months. Each event adds a layer of cultural richness to a community already boasting more than 300 parks, 200 miles of trails, ten golf courses, and a host of schools, a medical center and a performing‑arts venue.
