Kumaraswamy Urges Urgent Flood Relief for Kalyana Karnataka Amidst Devastation

Former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy has issued a fervent appeal to the Karnataka government, urging immediate and comprehensive action to address the devastating floods plaguing the Kalyana Karnataka region. With heavy rains unleashing havoc across districts like Kalaburagi, Raichur, Yadgir, Ballari, and Koppal, Kumaraswamy stressed the critical need for the state administration to prioritize rescue and relief operations, sending a clear message that the affected communities cannot afford any delay.

In a strongly worded statement, Kumaraswamy highlighted the severity of the situation, noting that many parts of the region have been submerged, with vital transportation links severed, homes damaged, and agricultural lands deluged.

He emphasized that the primary focus must be on saving lives and providing immediate succour to those displaced and suffering.

Kumaraswamy specifically called for a ministerial delegation to be dispatched without delay to the flood-affected areas. He argued that on-the-ground assessment by senior ministers is crucial for understanding the true extent of the damage and for formulating an effective, rapid response strategy.

He also insisted on the active involvement of local MLAs from the affected constituencies, underscoring their unique understanding of community needs and their pivotal role in coordinating relief efforts at the grassroots level.

Kumaraswamy urged the government to release immediate compensation to families who have lost loved ones, sustained injuries, or whose properties have been destroyed. Beyond immediate relief, the former Chief Minister drew attention to the long-term impact on agriculture, the backbone of the region's economy.

He demanded that the government undertake a comprehensive survey of crop damage and property loss, assuring farmers and landowners that they would receive adequate support to rebuild their lives and livelihoods. The appeal also included a call for the urgent restoration of essential services such such as electricity, communication networks, and road infrastructure, which are vital for recovery and connectivity.
