KTPO’s Whitefield Campus Set to Host a World‑Class Convention and Exhibition Hub

On a bright September morning, Karnataka Industries Minister M.B. Patil walked through the sprawling 48.35‑acre KTPO campus in Whitefield, nodding to the possibilities that lay ahead. He wasn’t alone – IT PO chairman Javed Ashraf and a handful of senior officials were with him, all eyes on the vacant plots that have long waited for a purpose.

What emerged from their discussions is a bold, multi‑purpose project: a five‑acre, world‑class convention and exhibition centre that could rival Mumbai’s Jio World Convention Centre and Delhi’s Bharat Mandapam. The design, prepared by RSP, envisions two massive floors – each about 10,000 sq m – totaling roughly 20,000 sq m of flexible space for everything from trade fairs to music concerts.

Patil made it clear that this isn’t just another hall. “We want it better than Jio World,” he said, adding that RSP has been asked to study the shortcomings of Delhi’s recent projects so they don’t get repeated here. The plan also includes parking for 500 cars, modern amenities, and a layout that can easily shift from a product launch to a cultural extravaganza.

Currently, KTPO already houses two exhibition halls – one built back in 2002 and another added in 2024. While those structures have served the city for years, the minister hinted they might be revamped or even replaced to match the new standards. “The old hall simply can’t keep up with today’s demand,” Patil remarked, a hint of nostalgia slipping in.

Beyond the flagship centre, the meeting tackled a separate, financially savvy idea: monetising a 14‑acre slice of land that sits beside the Kundalahalli Metro station. The plan is to bring in a transaction adviser who will map out the best way to unlock that value, potentially fueling further development around the site.

All told, the KTPO project is a collaborative dance between the Karnataka government (which owns 49 % of the land) and the central IT PO (holding 51 %). With both sides on board, the Whitefield campus could soon become a buzzing hub that draws international delegates, showcases Indian innovation, and gives Bengaluru yet another feather in its rapidly growing cap.
