According to initial reports, the terrifying ordeal began when the woman reportedly met a man, identified as Debashish Roy Chowdhury, at a pub nestled in Salt Lake's bustling Sector V area. After their encounter, the man allegedly offered her a ride home. What started as a seemingly innocuous gesture, sadly, took a sinister turn.

During the car journey, the woman claims she began to feel increasingly unwell, a sensation she attributes to being drugged. Her memory of the subsequent events is understandably hazy, but she recounted losing consciousness. Despite her compromised state, she reportedly broke free from her assailant near her home in Behala. It must have taken immense inner strength for her to then gather herself and approach the Behala Police Station, where she bravely filed a formal complaint, detailing the entire traumatic experience.

Within a short period, the accused, Debashish Roy Chowdhury, was tracked down and arrested. He has since been booked under serious sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Section 328 (causing hurt by means of poison, etc., with intent to commit an offence) and Section 376 (rape).
