Key Suspect Captured: Windsor Police Apprehend Man After Daring Commercial Break-in and Vehicle Heist

A 36-year-old man from Windsor is now facing a litany of charges following a meticulously planned commercial break-in and subsequent vehicle theft that unfolded earlier this week. The incident, which saw the brazen theft of multiple vehicle keys and a car, concluded with the suspect's arrest after a brief foot chase.

The alarm was first raised on Monday, February 12th, around 4:30 a.m., when a commercial establishment situated in the 300 block of Legacy Park Drive became the target of a sophisticated infiltration.

According to reports from the Windsor Police Service, a perpetrator managed to gain unauthorized entry into the premises. Once inside, the individual's objective was clear: locate and access a secure key box. This box, intended to keep vehicle keys safe, was breached, leading to the theft of several sets of keys.

With the stolen keys in hand, the suspect then proceeded to make his getaway in one of the vehicles belonging to the business.

The scene left behind suggested a calculated move, prompting a swift and thorough investigation by the Windsor Police Property Crime Unit.

As officers moved in to apprehend the suspect, he attempted to evade capture, ditching the stolen vehicle and trying to flee on foot. However, police quickly gave chase and successfully arrested the man in the vicinity.

These include: Break and Enter, Theft of Motor Vehicle, Resist Arrest, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000, Possession of Break and Enter Tools, and Theft under $5,000 for the stolen keys themselves.
