Karnataka's Holistic Health Revolution: 10 New Yoga & Naturopathy Hospitals Emerge

Karnataka is poised to embark on a significant journey towards holistic well-being with the announcement of 10 new Yoga and Naturopathy hospitals across the state. This ambitious initiative, a cornerstone of the National AYUSH Mission, promises to integrate traditional Indian healing practices into mainstream healthcare, offering citizens accessible and natural pathways to health.

The exciting development was recently unveiled, highlighting the state's commitment to enhancing its healthcare infrastructure.

These new facilities are not merely additions; they represent a progressive step in embracing India's rich heritage of medicine. Each of these upcoming hospitals will be a 50-bedded facility, designed to provide comprehensive care and promote a lifestyle rooted in ancient wisdom.

The financial backing for this monumental project is substantial, with a total allocation of Rs 149.7 crore.

This significant investment underscores the state government's dedication to the National AYUSH Mission (NAM), a flagship program launched by the Union government in 2014. NAM's overarching goal is to promote indigenous systems of medicine, ensure affordable AYUSH services, strengthen educational institutions, and enhance the quality control of AYUSH drugs, thereby making traditional healing systems a viable and respected healthcare option for all.

Karnataka already boasts 24 operational AYUSH hospitals, demonstrating its proactive stance in this sector.

The integration of AYUSH practitioners into the state's health framework has been notably successful, particularly during challenging times. AYUSH doctors played a crucial role as frontline warriors during the COVID-19 pandemic, showcasing the efficacy and adaptability of these traditional systems in modern health crises.

The term AYUSH encompasses a spectrum of traditional and non-conventional systems of healthcare, including Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy.

These systems focus on a holistic approach to health, emphasizing prevention and natural healing. Over the past nine years, the Union government has invested a remarkable Rs 20,400 crore in the AYUSH sector, signifying a strong national push for its development and integration.

To further bolster the capabilities of its AYUSH practitioners, the Karnataka government has also allocated Rs 16.50 crore towards establishing advanced training facilities for AYUSH doctors.

This ensures that the healthcare professionals are equipped with the latest knowledge and skills, combining traditional wisdom with modern scientific advancements.
