Kannada Film Legends Set to Light Up Mysuru’s Jamboo Savari

When the lights of Mysuru’s Dasara blaze brighter than ever, you’ll spot a colourful convoy rolling from the palace towards K.R. Circle – an ‘Ambaari’ bus brimming with some of Karnataka’s most beloved film stars.

Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy announced on September 9 that, at the behest of Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, a slew of leading actors, actresses and sportspersons will join the Jamboo Savari on the Vijayadashami evening in October.

They’ll board the specially‑decorated bus, travel the short stretch to the circle, and later be ushered back to the palace’s gallery where they’ll watch the procession unfold. It’s a small journey – about a kilometre – but one that carries a lot of fanfare.

Adding a nostalgic touch, Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce president Jayamala revealed that a massive tableau will be part of the march, tracing the 93‑year evolution of the Kannada film industry. The visual tribute, she says, will be a highlight for both film buffs and casual onlookers.

Former KFCC chief Sa. R. Govindu urged officials to honour the participating artists during the celebrations and suggested a side exhibition that would chronicle the industry’s milestones – a plan that could turn the Dasara festivities into a mini‑film museum.

Rockline Venkatesh, head of the Film Artistes’ Association, appealed to the Deputy Commissioner for comfortable lodging for the performers, underscoring the city’s commitment to making the event a smooth, memorable experience for all involved.

Police Commissioner Seema Latkar, SIIRD Director Sheikh Tanveer Asif, SP Mallikarjun Baladandi and numerous department officials were also present, signalling the collaborative spirit behind the grand procession.
