Kane County Early Voting Kicks Off Sept. 24 – What You Need to Know

Mark your calendars – early voting in Kane County starts on September 24, 2026, giving you a few weeks to get your ballot in before the big day on Nov. 3. If you’re anything like most of us, you’ll appreciate the flexibility.

At first, you’ll head to one of two main offices: the County Clerk’s main building at 719 S. Batavia Ave., Building B in Geneva, or the Aurora satellite office located at 5 E. Downer Place. Both are open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., which should fit nicely into a lunch break or a quick after‑work swing.

Starting October 19, the game changes a bit. A handful of permanent sites pop up around the county – the Branch Court at 530 S. Randall Rd. in St. Charles, Carpentersville Fire Station No. 93, the Elgin Township office, Gail Borden Library, and the Vaughan Athletic Center in Aurora. These spots will gradually stretch their hours, even staying open later in the evenings (usually until 7 p.m.) as the election draws nearer.

And there’s more good news for weekend warriors. The permanent locations will be ready on select Saturdays and Sundays – Oct. 24, Oct. 25, Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 – so you can vote without having to rearrange a full workday.

If you live closer to a community center or library, you’ll be glad to know that alternative sites also join the schedule on Oct. 19. Think Campton Community Center, Hampshire Township, the city of Batavia, Sugar Grove Library, Elgin, Del Webb Sun City, and West Dundee. Check the county’s website for exact dates and times for each venue.

Don’t forget the Vote Mobile, the traveling voting van that will swing by several neighborhoods. Look for it at Elgin Community College, various Jewel‑Osco stores (Batavia, Elburn, West Dundee, Elgin, St. Charles, Aurora) and even the North Aurora Police Department. The mobile unit typically runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with dates spread between Oct. 19 and Oct. 28.

One last thing: if you missed the regular registration deadline, you still have a grace period. Voters who aren’t registered by Oct. 6 can sign up from Oct. 7 onward at the Geneva Clerk’s Office or the Aurora satellite. Just remember, if you register during the grace period, you’ll need to vote on the spot – no later drop‑off.
