Justice Served: Suspect Arrested Weeks After Brutal Stoughton Armed Robbery Leaves Victim Seriously Injured

Stoughton, MA – Weeks of intense investigation have culminated in a significant breakthrough for local law enforcement, as a suspect has been apprehended in connection with a harrowing armed robbery that left a Stoughton resident with severe injuries. The arrest brings a measure of relief and a step closer to justice for the victim and the community shaken by the violent incident.

The brazen attack occurred on the evening of September 15, 2025, when Johnathan Reed, 58, was confronted by an armed assailant at his home on Elm Street.

According to initial police reports, Reed was ambushed shortly after returning home. The suspect, later identified as 32-year-old Kevin “Kev” Miller of Brockton, allegedly brandished a firearm and demanded valuables. A struggle ensued, during which Reed sustained multiple serious injuries before the assailant fled with a significant amount of cash and personal belongings.

Reed was found by a neighbor an hour later, severely beaten and disoriented.

He was immediately rushed to Good Samaritan Medical Center, where he underwent emergency surgery for head trauma and multiple fractures. His condition was initially critical, but he has since been reported to be in stable condition and is slowly recovering, though the emotional and physical scars of the attack will undoubtedly remain.

Stoughton Police, working in close collaboration with the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, launched a relentless investigation.

Detectives scoured the crime scene, interviewed numerous witnesses, and reviewed hours of surveillance footage from the surrounding area. Their meticulous work began to piece together a profile of the suspect, leading them to Kevin Miller.

Miller, who has a prior record of non-violent offenses, was identified through a combination of forensic evidence and witness corroboration.

Police obtained an arrest warrant, and after tracking his movements for several days, Miller was taken into custody without incident on October 8, 2025, at a residence in Brockton. He has been charged with armed robbery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and home invasion.
