Justice Prevails: Mattapan Man Convicted of First-Degree Murder in Brutal 2020 Fatal Shooting

A Mattapan man, identified as 32-year-old Jamal Thompson, has been found guilty of first-degree murder for the fatal shooting of 28-year-old Marcus Jenkins in November 2020, concluding a nearly four-year legal battle that gripped the community. The verdict, delivered by a Suffolk Superior Court jury, brings a measure of solace to the victim's family and underscores the commitment of law enforcement to pursue justice.

The tragic incident unfolded on the evening of November 15, 2020, on Blue Hill Avenue in Mattapan.

According to prosecutors, Thompson and Jenkins were involved in an altercation that escalated rapidly, with Thompson ultimately drawing a firearm and shooting Jenkins multiple times before fleeing the scene. Emergency services responded, but Jenkins succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

District Attorney Kevin Hayden emphasized the gravity of the verdict.
