Justice Extended: Portland Security Guard's Sentence Lengthened to 16 Years for Rape and Assault

In a powerful testament to justice, a former Portland security guard, Darion D. Reed, will spend significantly more time behind bars. A Multnomah County Circuit Judge has added a substantial 6.5 years to Reed's original sentence for the brutal rape of a customer, bringing his total prison term to 16 years and 8 months.

Reed was initially handed a sentence of 10 years and 2 months in January for the horrific sexual assault of a woman in an Old Town/Chinatown business in 2021.

However, while awaiting his trial for that heinous crime, Reed committed another felony: assaulting a fellow inmate. It was this subsequent act that led Multnomah County Circuit Judge Christopher Marshall to deliver the additional 78 months, ensuring Reed's protracted incarceration.

Reed, then working as a security guard, raped a customer. He initially maintained the encounter was consensual, a claim vehemently denied by the victim and later disproven by evidence. Facing overwhelming evidence, Reed eventually pleaded guilty to first-degree rape in December.
