J&K Police Deliver Double Blow to Drug Trafficking in Udhampur

They successfully foiled not just one, but two distinct attempts at drug peddling, leading to the prompt arrest of two individuals involved and the seizure of substantial contraband. They apprehended a driver identified as Mohd Shafi, and what they found was quite alarming: a stash of 250 grams of charas, a significant quantity that was clearly intended for distribution. Adding to the haul, police also recovered a sum of Rs 21,000 in cash, believed to be proceeds from the illegal trade. The vehicle itself was seized as part of the investigation.

Following this seizure, a formal case was registered at the Chenani Police Station. The charges levied against Mohd Shafi fall under FIR No. 343/2023, specifically citing sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. This means a serious legal battle awaits him, reflecting the gravity of drug-related offenses in India.

Just as the dust settled on the first bust, another successful operation was carried out in the Chenani area itself. Police officers, acting on intelligence or perhaps keen observation, managed to nab another individual deeply entrenched in drug peddling. This time, the accused was identified as Pardeep Singh. During his apprehension, law enforcement officers recovered 10 grams of heroin, a highly addictive and dangerous substance that preys on vulnerable communities.

For Pardeep Singh, a separate case has been lodged under FIR No. 200/2023 at the Chenani Police Station, also invoking the stringent provisions of the NDPS Act. These twin arrests send a clear, unequivocal message to drug traffickers: Udhampur is not a safe haven for their illicit activities, and the police are constantly on alert.
