Irrfan Khan Birth Anniversary 2024: Remembering the iconic star`s dialogues

Irrfan Khan's Birth Anniversary 2024: Celebrating the legacy of the renowned actor on his 57th birthday, we remember the much-loved actor, who sadly succumbed to cancer a few years ago. Hailing from a Muslim family of Pathani lineage in Rajasthan, he forged a career that saw him become one of the most acclaimed and well-loved figures in the acting world before his untimely demise.

Before his journey into acting, he concluded his MA studies in Jaipur, and then enrolled at the National School of Drama (NSD) in New Delhi in 1984. Kahn began his acting career on television, eventually finding success in both Indian and Hollywood cinema. His exceptional career, spanning over three decades, earned him several prestigious awards including a National Film Award, an Asian Film Award, and six Filmfare Awards. He was also the recipient of India's fourth highest civilian honour, the Padma Shri in 2011, while 2021 saw him bestowed, posthumously, with the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award.

On his 57th birth anniversary, we remember the evergreen star through some of his most memorable dialogues. Among them is a quote from the 2005 film 'Chocolate: Deep Dark Secrets', in which Irfan Khan's portrayal of Pipi, despite the movie's disappointing commercial performance, received much appreciation from both audiences and critics.

Other notable dialogues include those from the 2013 critically acclaimed action thriller 'D Day', starring Kahn himself and the late Rishi Kapoor; the 2015 hit comedy-drama 'Piku', with Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan; and Kahn's final film, 'Angrezi Medium'. Not to forget, the 2010 film 'Paan Singh Tomar', which brought Khan both a National Film Award and a Filmfare for his compelling portrayal of the athlete turned dacoit, Paan Singh Tomar.

Adding to his extensive credits in the Indian film industry, Khan was also accomplished in Hollywood, with notable appearances in 'The Amazing Spider-Man', 'Jurassic World', 'Life of Pi' and 'Inferno', among others. He was also part of the Oscar-winning ensemble in 'Slumdog Millionaire.'

Tragically, he was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour, and eventually passed away on April 29, 2020. Khan left behind his wife, Sutapa Sikdar, and their sons, Babil Khan and Ayan Khan, but his legacy continues to live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and fans.
