When the Afghanistan Cricket Board announced Ibrahim Zadran as the new T20I captain, the 27‑year‑old batsman didn’t hide his excitement. He stepped into the role after serving as Rashid Khan’s deputy, and now he’s keen to prove he can steer the side through tough moments.

"It’s a big responsibility for me," Zadran said in a candid interview in New Delhi on Saturday. "I want to enjoy the job, take the responsibility seriously, and make the right decisions when the pressure’s on." He admitted that learning to manage both his own nerves and those of his teammates will be the biggest test.

The upcoming three‑match T20I series against India starts on Sunday at the historic Feroz Shah Kotla. Zadran believes the team's past experiences in India—particularly the World Cup fixtures—have given them a good feel for the conditions. "We know the pitches, we know the crowds, and we just have to execute our plan," he added.

He also emphasized a process‑first mindset. "We’ll give 100 percent, focus on the process, and let the results take care of themselves. Hopefully it turns into a good series for us."
