Hyderabad Braces for Grand Ganesh Nimajjanam: Crucial Traffic Advisories Issued

Hyderabad is buzzing with anticipation as the city prepares for the grand finale of Ganesh Chaturthi – the spectacular Ganesh idol immersion, or 'Nimajjanam'. This year, the festivities will culminate on September 6th and 7th, bringing with them essential traffic advisories to ensure a smooth, safe, and celebratory experience for all.

To facilitate the massive processions and prevent congestion, the Hyderabad City Police, under the directive of Commissioner Kothakota Sreenivasa Reddy, has announced comprehensive traffic restrictions and diversions.

These measures are crucial for managing the lakhs of devotees and thousands of Ganesh idols making their way to various immersion points, particularly the iconic Hussain Sagar Lake.

Commuters should mark their calendars: heavy vehicles will be prohibited from entering Hyderabad city limits between 6 AM and 10 PM on both September 6th and 7th. This restriction applies to all vehicles except for essential services like RTC buses, emergency vehicles, and those specifically designated for Ganesh immersion duties.

The aim is to clear major thoroughfares for the elaborate processions that characterize this vibrant festival.

Key immersion routes will see significant changes. Processions heading towards Hussain Sagar will predominantly utilize NTR Marg, PVNR Marg, Tank Bund, People’s Plaza, and Necklace Road. Motorists are strongly advised to avoid these routes if their travel plans are not related to the immersion.

Instead, alternative routes should be identified in advance to minimize delays and frustration.

Specific traffic diversions will be implemented at critical junctions leading to the main immersion points. While the detailed list of diversions will be widely publicized by the police, general advice includes expecting detours around areas like Tank Bund, Necklace Road, Secunderabad, and parts of the Old City.

Parking will also be strictly regulated along all procession routes to ensure uninterrupted movement.

The Hyderabad City Police urges all citizens to cooperate with traffic personnel and adhere to the issued advisories. It’s recommended to use public transport where possible, consider carpooling, and allocate extra travel time during these two days.
