Horrific Gang Rape Shakes Lucknow: Dalit Student Abducted and Assaulted Near University

Lucknow has been gripped by shock and outrage following the brutal gang rape of a 20-year-old Dalit student from Jharkhand. The horrifying incident, which saw four individuals arrested swiftly, underscores serious concerns about safety for young women, particularly those pursuing education away from home.

The ordeal began when the victim, a student pursuing higher education in Lucknow, was allegedly lured by an acquaintance, Saurabh.

According to police reports, Saurabh called her to meet him near her college on the pretext of a discussion. While initially accompanied by a friend, Saurabh insisted the victim join him alone, leading her into a sinister trap.

He then transported her on his motorcycle to a secluded and desolate spot situated near the Ambalika Institute of Management and Technology.

There, three other men – Aditya, Ankit, and Subham – were reportedly waiting. It was at this isolated location that the four accused collectively perpetrated the heinous act of gang rape.

In a testament to her courage, the victim managed to escape her tormentors and sought refuge with her roommate, recounting the harrowing events.

An immediate First Information Report (FIR) was lodged, invoking severe sections of the Indian Penal Code pertaining to gang rape, alongside relevant clauses of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, given the victim's identity.

The Lucknow police responded with commendable speed and diligence.

Multiple teams were mobilized, working tirelessly to track down the culprits. Their efforts bore fruit within a mere 24 hours, leading to the identification and arrest of all four accused – Saurabh, Aditya, Ankit, and Subham. The victim is currently undergoing necessary medical examinations and receiving support as the legal process unfolds.

This disturbing incident casts a dark shadow over the city, prompting renewed calls for enhanced safety measures and vigilance, especially in areas frequented by students.
