on Monday, September 18, 2023. According to York Regional Police, Kamel, 40, was awakened by the presence of suspects inside his home. With his wife and four young children – aged one, three, five, and eleven – asleep nearby, he bravely confronted the intruders. This courageous act, driven by an instinct to safeguard his family, ultimately cost him his life.

He was rushed to hospital but succumbed to his injuries, leaving behind a heartbroken family and a community in shock.

"He was a very, very great father, a great husband, a great son," his brother, Basim Kamel, tearfully shared, describing Aram's character and his passion for life. The community has rallied around the grieving family, with a GoFundMe campaign quickly set up to support Kamel's wife and young children in the wake of their unimaginable loss.
