Heartbreaking Betrayal: Bengaluru Nanny Accused of Child Assault and Theft

A Bengaluru family's worst nightmare became a terrifying reality when their trusted live-in nanny, hired to care for their precious 4-year-old, was allegedly caught on camera subjecting the child to horrifying abuse and then fleeing with valuable jewellery. This shocking incident has sent ripples of outrage across the city, prompting an FIR against both the caregiver and the placement agency that vouched for her.

The ordeal began for Ramya, a resident of Bengaluru, when she employed Soni Kumari through Kalyani Placements in October 2023.

Entrusting her young daughter's care to Kumari, Ramya believed she had found reliable help. However, a creeping sense of unease soon replaced her initial comfort as she began noticing unexplained injuries on her child.

Her daughter, usually vibrant and expressive, became withdrawn and fearful, showing signs of distress that she couldn't articulate.

When confronted about the minor bruises and marks, the nanny vehemently denied any wrongdoing, offering plausible-sounding excuses. But a mother's intuition is hard to quell, and Ramya's suspicions deepened.

Determined to uncover the truth, Ramya decided to review the CCTV footage from her home.

What she witnessed next was a scene of unspeakable cruelty that no parent should ever have to endure. The video painstakingly documented instances of the nanny, Soni Kumari, physically assaulting the innocent 4-year-old.

The footage allegedly revealed Kumari hitting the child with various objects, including a bottle, tossing her around carelessly, pushing her aggressively, and, in a particularly sickening detail, even forcing the child to consume her own vomit.

The sheer brutality and callousness displayed in the recordings painted a chilling picture of betrayal of trust and severe child abuse.

Before the full extent of her alleged crimes could be brought to light, Soni Kumari vanished from the home, taking with her not only the family's peace of mind but also gold ornaments.
