The state's Food and Drug Regulatory Authority, acting on its intelligence, initiated an intensive drive beginning August 19th. During these rigorous checks, officials managed to seize suspected counterfeit or duplicate drugs estimated to be worth approximately Rs 1.70 lakh. The list of drugs under suspicion is alarming, and includes vital medications like NICARDIA RETARD 10 and 20 TABLETS, Cilacar 5, Cilacar 10, and Cilakar TM 50. The batch number ACG25007 of Nicardia Retard 10, purportedly from JB Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Bharuch, has specifically raised red flags.

What's even more concerning is the breadth of the suspected supply chain. Investigators believe these dubious medicines were circulating through various channels, involving firms like Sena Pharmas in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Within Gujarat itself, names like Parsh Medical Agency (Paldi, Ahmedabad), Paras Ecomad (Satellite, Ahmedabad), Sanand Medical Stores (Sanand), and Lilavati Pharmacy and Wellness Pvt. Ltd. (Satellite, Ahmedabad) have come under the scanner. It just goes to show how complex and interconnected these networks can be.

Gujarat Health Minister Praful Pansheriya has, quite rightly, stressed the gravity of the situation. He underscored the government’s firm resolve to pursue this investigation relentlessly, right up to the manufacturer level.
