Groton City Brew Run Returns to Eastern Point Beach for a Day of Running, Brews, and Family Fun

Mark your calendars: on Saturday, September 12, the shoreline at Eastern Point Beach will buzz with sneakers, cheerleaders and the clink of craft brews as the Groton City Brew Run makes its much‑anticipated return.

The event is more than just a race. Organizers have laid out a scenic 5‑kilometer course that winds along the water, perfect for seasoned runners and casual walkers alike. Little ones aren’t left out, either – a separate kids’ dash gives the younger crowd a chance to burn off energy and earn a finisher’s medal.

Once the finish line is crossed, participants can unwind in the Brew Garden, a relaxed outdoor space where local breweries pour up seasonal taps. Live music will drift from a nearby stage, while a lineup of food trucks offers everything from tacos to sweet treats. It’s a laid‑back celebration that feels like a weekend picnic with a purpose.

All of the proceeds are earmarked for The Riverfront Children’s Center, a nonprofit that provides essential services and programs to families throughout the region. “When businesses, residents, and volunteers rally together for an event like this, the impact ripples far beyond a single day,” said Bruce Flax, president of the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce.

The run is co‑hosted by the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce, Groton Utilities and Kelley’s Pace, underscoring the community’s collaborative spirit.
