Glashütte Original has lovers covered this February 14. The German watchmaker designed a lavish new timepiece in honor of the upcoming Valentine’s Day holiday. The limited edition Lady Serenade pairs rosy red hues with several exquisite materials to create a decidedly romantic aesthetic. The 36 mm case is crafted from polished stainless steel, while the striking bezel is adorned with 52 brilliant cut diamonds.
(The stones are set flush with the surface to protect the wearer from catching on things.) The crown is also topped with a single gorgeous gem that is nice and easy to turn. Not to be outdone, the ultra thin dial is covered with white mother of pearl. The five large Arabic numerals and six slim indexes on the face showcase a color gradient that runs from magenta to rose to violet.
This special printing technique adds radiance and depth to the dial, prompting the colored background to appear or disappear depending on the vantage point. In addition, the date display at 6 o’clock shows violet numbers. Flip the watch over, the sapphire crystal case back gives a full view of the Caliber 39 22.
The self winding movement is equipped with signature Glashütte elements, including a three quarter plate, a swan neck fine adjustment, and a skeletonized rotor with a heavy metal oscillation weight and double G logo. The movement beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a power reserve of 40 hours.
To top it off, the watch features a rose colored Louisiana alligator leather strap with two options for fastening the strap. (The Lady Serenade with a folding clasp costs approximately $13,400, while the model with a pin buckle retails for roughly $13,000.) The timepiece can also be fitted with a classic metal bracelet if the red leather is too much.
This isn’t the first limited edition Glashütte Original has dropped in honor of V Day. The German watchmaker, which only makes approximately 10,000 watches per year, unveiled a Lady Serenade for the same holiday in 2022. Last year’s model was distinguished by eight heart shaped pink sapphires on the dial.
Limited to just 50 pieces, the Lady Serenade Valentine’s Day 2024 edition can be purchased at Glashütte Original boutiques and selected retailers worldwide.
