The Regatta, which began in 2004, was conceived as a clever way to put the city of Tualatin on the map and attract visitors to its picturesque lake.

Each year, around 30 determined individuals, ranging from local dignitaries to seasoned pumpkin-paddling veterans, clamber into their organic boats.

Armed with paddles, often fashioned from kitchen utensils or modified oars, they embark on a short but intensely competitive journey across the lake. The cheers of the crowd echo across the water as the pumpkins, sometimes listing precariously, sometimes powering forward with surprising speed, make their way to the finish line.
